Activist and scholar, Professor Melina Abdullah brings her powerful brand of truth-telling to her audience in the run-up to the pivotal 2020 Election. Melina confronts issues that affect communities across America, joined by influential interview guests engaging in dynamic roundtable discussions. THE CALL is an authentic, grassroots program rooted in the ideas that birthed hip-hop, and speaking to the issues in our community. Every installment of THE CALL takes the audience through a deep analysis of a critical topic relevant to the upcoming elections. Melina closes each episode with a call to action giving viewers the motivation and the tools to make an impact in their world.

“Our approach is decidedly womanist…because Black women who live in our purpose are and have always been our greatest visionaries, the moral compass of the world, and the holders of both ends of the sky. And while our show comes from a Black woman’s perspective, this is a CALL for all of us to engage…to invest all that we have in freedom and justice work….

  • To CALL OUT injustice and interlocking forms of oppression…racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, transphobia and ableism.

  • To CALL FOR new solutions that lead us closer to a world vision where everyone has all of what they need and most of what they want.

  • THE CALL is also grounded in an African tradition that requires a RESPONSE. We will close each show with a CALL TO ACTION…tangible steps that we can take to move us towards justice.

THE CALL will raise issues, amplify critical voices, and compel action.”
