In this dark comedy series inspired by true events, Andrew Rustin is an ambitious, bi-racial, gay, Harvard-trained lawyer whose dreams of being the next Barack Obama are threatened when he’s pulled back into the world of his grandmother’s evangelical empire as her unofficial church “fixer.”

Andrew loves and admires his grandmother Isabella, who, as a young woman in the 1960s, founded her own church that has since grown into an international mega-church. But his love of family comes directly into conflict with his own personal integrity when his grandmother asks him to fire the church vice president, who's been allegedly having an illicit gay affair contrary to the Puritanical mores of conservative evangelical Christian culture.

This scandal will merely be the first of many that Andrew has to cover up for his grandmother. Andrew is constantly confronted with a different assistant pastor or parishioner who needs Andrew's help to avoid a public scandal, while he grapples with staying true to himself and trying to moderate his grandmother's over-the-top pronouncements about how God speaks directly to her on a regular basis.

HOUSE OF ISABELLA is a multi-layered story: it is the story of a complicated family with a powerful female authoritarian as its head; it is the story of a conflicted protagonist, who walks a tight-rope of race and sexuality; and it is the story of an American mega-church, told with humor and grace, from inside this increasingly influential yet insular community.
